Jakarta, January 23, 2024 – Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, or Mendag Busan, attended the launch of the IFFINA 2025 exhibition in Jakarta on Thursday, January 23rd. The IFFINA 2025 launch event highlighted the theme “A Showcase of Indonesia’s Finest Furniture and Home Decor.” IFFINA 2025 itself will be held from September 17–20, 2025, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang, and will feature the theme “Sustainable Design, Ethical Sourcing.”.

“The Minister of Trade, Busan, hopes that IFFINA 2025 will attract a large number of international buyers, thereby boosting exports of Indonesian furniture and handicrafts. Furthermore, Minister Busan expects IFFINA 2025 to showcase Indonesian furniture and handicraft businesses that offer sustainable products, aligning with global market demands and trends.”

The Ministry of Trade appreciates the efforts of business associations and industry players, as well as the collaboration from various parties, in boosting the performance of national non-oil and gas exports. This encouragement also extends to the export performance of Indonesian furniture and handicrafts through promotions such as trade shows, with the aim of attracting more international buyers,” said Minister of Trade Busan.

The launch of IFFINA 2025 was also attended by Secretary-General Isy Karim, Director-General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Fajarini Puntodewi, Chairman of the Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (ASMINDO) Dedy Rochimat, Secretary-General of ASMINDO Agustinus Purna Irawan, Vice Chairman of ASMINDO for Raw Materials Hari Basuki, and Chairman of the IFFINA 2025 Organizing Committee (OC) Nico Alexander Vizano.

The global demand for furniture and handicraft products remains quite promising. Current trends show a positive growth in global demand of 15.09 percent. Specifically for furniture products, the global market size reached USD 770.42 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 925.46 billion in 2029. “This situation presents a significant market opportunity for the Indonesian furniture and handicraft industry,” said Mendag Busan.

“Meanwhile, Indonesian furniture and handicraft exports have shown a positive trend, growing by 2.62 percent over the last five years (2019–2023). In the period from January to November 2024, the value of Indonesian furniture and handicraft exports reached USD 2.22 billion. The primary destination countries for these exports include the United States, with a market share of 53.20 percent, followed by Japan (6.04 percent), the Netherlands (4.48 percent), Germany (3.73 percent), and Belgium (2.87 percent).”
